Enjoy a solid health & welfare benefit plan

Unionized Alberta carpenters and their allied trades enjoy one of the construction industry’s best health & welfare benefit plans.

When you work as an industrial or commercial carpenter or scaffolder, your employer contributes all of the costs of your health & welfare benefits plan, which provides both you and your family with a high level of assurance and security.

The plan provides:

  • Dental Coverage – basic, major and child orthodontic
  • Supplementary Health Care – hospital, ambulance, vision care, hearing aids, prescription drugs and certain paramedical expenses (i.e. chiropractic, physiotherapy or massage therapy).
  • Short Term Disability
  • Life Insurance

Please Note:

Some areas of coverage are subject to various limitations (i.e. annual, lifetime, according to defined fee schedules, specified family members, specified percentage of costs, etc.).

Employers are required to make contributions for all hours worked, but members must be initiated by the union, and have completed a benefits application card, before they will get credit for hours related to the employer contributions. The monthly “hour bank” balance determines member eligibility for benefits.
