Alberta's building trades work as partners with top-quality employers who know that we're worth more because of our training, our safety record and our commitment to a job done well…the first time.
Following is our current pay grid for Journeymen in most of our crafts:
| Hourly Rate | Vacation/Holiday | Health & Welfare | Pension | Other | Total Package | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fitters, Plumbers & Pressure Welders, Instrument Mechanics – Industrial Construction | 43.43 | 4.34 | 1.75 | 6.20 | 0.98 | 56.70 |
| Same – Commercial & Institutional Construction | 35.32 | 3.53 | 1.65 | 5.04 | 0.98 | 46.52 |
Our current contract is unique in the industry. For the first time, it contains an inflation protection measure – regular pay increases will never be less than the Alberta inflation rate + 1%.
Fully 100% of pension and health & welfare contributions are made by our employers.
Vacation and Holiday pay is paid with regular wages.
Overtime on industrial projects is 1.5X for the first two weekday hours after a regular shift, and 2X thereafter and on weekends and stat holidays.
One great thing about working in Alberta is that there is NO provincial income tax!
