High demand
The demand for industrial millwrights in Saskatchewan has never been higher, and the future looks mighty good.
There is enormous expansion and new construction happening in our province – many billions of dollars worth. For millwrights, it means high construction demand now and in the near-to-middle term, followed by steady demand for maintenance and turnaround services.
We expect the large mines that are being built right now will eventually provide full-time employment to many hundreds of millwrights, so whether you plan to stay a member of Local 1021 or move on to other employment in the trade, the future in Saskatchewan is looking very reliable.
At the current time, we expect to be able to satisfy our employers' needs with the help of fellow tradespeople from within Saskatchewan and other Canadian provinces. We do not expect to issue calls into the United States or elsewhere offshore.
