UBC Sask Millwrights get the benefit of a wide-ranging benefit plan that ensures that they and their immediate family dependents are well taken-care-of. Some benefits last well past retirement.
Here's a summary of the benefits our members receive, at no direct cost to themselves – 100% of Health & Welfare premiums are paid by our employers!
Prescriptions & Dental:
Prescription Drugs – 80% of first $850, 100% after each year
Dental – 100% routine, 80% of major restorative expenses. Max $3,000 per calendar year per person. Orthodontics 50% for dependents under 18, lifetime max $2,000
Other Health Care
Private Nursing – up to $10,000/yr
Semi-Private Hospitalization
Hearing Aids $500 every 3 years
Paramedical Practitioners – max $400 per year per practitioner
Foot care - $200/yr
Vision – Glasses or contacts max $500 every 24 months (12 months for kids under 18). Laser surgery $1,500 lifetime max. Safety glasses for members $300 every 12 months
Insurance
Life Insurance & Accidental Death - $50,000 each
Weekly Disability Income - $457/wk for 52 weeks, integrated with EI
Dependent Life Insurance - $5,000 spouse, $2,000 each child
